Join your Rotary friends for a productive morning in the fresh air helping to make our waterways healthier through planting native seedlings.
This volunteer planting is a Bannister Creek Catchment Group project funded by the Swan Alcoa Landcare Program. This year, Rotary E-Club of Western Australia also made a contribution to purchase of seedlings for the program, through a Rotary Foundation grant, in partnership with Treemission.
Date: Friday 11th of August
Time: 8:30am Safety Briefing and Planting Demonstration
9am Planting Start
10:30am (approx) morning tea break
Aim to finish by 12pm – Goal 3000 plants
Maximum of 30 Volunteers to protect ecosystem – Please Register
Location: Bannister Creek, Brampton Way, Lynwood. There is a lawn area on the blue highlighted section of the map, with a nature playground for the kids. That would be a good location to set up gazebos/food. SERCUL will contact the City of Canning and organise a portaloo. There is a small carpark located off Iveston Rd (only 6 car bays) for some parking. The rest of the planters will need to park along Brampton Way or Bywood way in the areas highlighted.
Planting: The planting will be along the creek edge and will be a mixture of sedges and shrubs. SERCUL will ensure all plants, and planting equipment are at site beforehand. SERCUL is also planning to auger holes prior to the event. The goal is to plant 3000 plants.
What To Bring: Participants will need to bring enclosed shoes, gardening gloves (although SERCUL will bring some spares), clothes that can get dirty, a water bottle, a hat and wet weather gear.
